JJ and Tim drool over the duratec block. All the parts are lined up on the bench. The engine is brand new so it is already nice and shiny.

Tim lubes up the main bearing shells in preparation for the crank.

As the bottom end of the duratec is, in Ford`s eyes, a non serviceable item they don`t actually stock the bearing ladder bolts. Luckily ARP produce a nice stud kit which you can see installed here.

The standard balanced crank in place.

The crnak bearing ladder nicley lubed up ready to be installed.

The crank bearing ladder installed and nuts torqued up.

Whilst swapping the bearing shells we notice a groove and high spot on one of the con rod big ends. The high spot has been removed..........I now feel completely justified in stripping down a brand new engine.

As we were installing the pistons we noticed a slight problem. The pockets in the pistons had meen machined back to front so had to be replaced. Then they had to be rebalanced so after a slight delay the pistons are now installed. The big end bearings have been replaced with Vandervell uprated items.

The block flipped over to allow access to the big ends and cranks. The conrod bolts have been replaced with ARP items.
