Here
we have a brand new 3.62:1 Ford diff as found in the stores of our local
gearbox expert. We have fitted a magnetic drain plug and a breather.........although
we snapped the breather so we`ll need another one now. The main modification
is the removal of the mount on the rear casing on the diff. You can see
where the mount has been removed in the photo. There is another modification
to the base for the rear ARB but as we are not fitting one just now we
will make the modification later.

And
the diff in postion, all nicely shimmed to ensure the diff is centred
in the chassis. It was at this point that we discovered that the driveshafts
will not push into the diff as the bearing in the diff is a smaller diameter.
So the diff is now out and waiting to go to the gearbox expert to see
if he can sort it out. At the same time I`m going to swap the crown wheel
and pinion for a 3.92:1 version which will be better suited to my 5 speed
setup. I had intended to make this modification next year when fitting
the LSD
Well
after weeks of torture I`m now back in the position of having the diff
fitted. I now have a 3.92 open diff.

The
propshaft attached to the diff using the "special" blue bolts.
The propshaft universal joints were greased prior to fitting, which
was just as well because they do not come fully greased from the factory.
