Introduction

A colleague of mine, Alex Burnside, in BT suggested
that within our work group we should tackle the Three Peaks Challenge
which had appeared as a news item on the company Web Site. The only
objection to this was that is was a very large affair incorporating a
number of busses and on consideration this was felt to be a big drawback.
However not to be deterred Alex managed to convince some our colleagues to
take part in the same event but not at the same weekend and the additional
challenge would be that it would be between smokers and
non-smokers. |
|
Sad to say
of the original ten volunteers seven have dropped out leaving only myself
, Alex and a very doubtful person, sorry, starter called Geoff Clark. To
his credit, Geoff who has already completed this challenge in his younger
days is waiting for surgery on his knee. If carried out in the next two
weeks it should see him recover in time to take part, if not he is willing
to join us in the pub at the end for a drink. |
| At this point I suggested to my son, David if he
wanted to join us and this sparked the reason behind this Web Site. David
had been planning an event to raise funds for Cancer Research. The
explanation is given elsewhere in this site. Raising this suggestion among
his friends and colleagues at work there is now a number of people willing
to participate all with the intent to raise funds for the nominated
charity. |
