HOW WE DID

The team about to set off.

If a challenge is worth doing then it has to be difficult. This means that there is a possibility of the challenge not being completed.
For us this challenge had the lot, SUCCESS, Bad Luck, Good Luck, Disappointment and Failure.

SUCCESS - Six of the team completed the challenge. All credit to Neil for getting them to Snowdon with just enough time to complete the challenge. The neatness of the time was due to problems at Scafell.

So well done to
Steve Field - for pulling everyone through.
David Montgomery - for keeping up despite the blisters.
Craig Ireland - despite the shaky start on Ben Nevis (Margaret's not happy about what he did to her soup).
Matthew Morton - for keeping going despite near exhaustion.
Keith Thomson - for being part of a team.
George Muir - for being brave enough to wear those trousers.

Steve and David completed in 23hours 10min and the rest completed between then and half an hour later.

Bad Luck - On Scafell the visibility was poor making direction finding for everyone very difficult. This led to seven of the team taking a wrong turn on the way down and ending on the wrong side of the mountain. The result was a costly (money) and costly (time) loss getting back to the mini-bus.

The lost souls were, Jason Barr, Jaimie Thom, Paul McGreevy, Phil Milne, Vince Nobile, Steve McGovern and George Murphy.

Good Luck - Despite three retirements (on Scafell) due blisters, dehydration and tiredness there were no serious injuries. Colin being the only casualty (and this is where the good luck comes in ). He tripped coming down the stony part of Ben Nevis and escaped with only a cut knee and grazed hand.

The retirees at Scafell were, Gordon Walker, Ian Walker and Ian Erskine.

Disappointment - The hardest cut of all was for the the team who, while being slightly of the pace struggled down Scafell only to find that instead of getting on the road they had to wait on the lost souls and thereby missing any chance they had of completing the challenge.

The gutted were - Alex Burnside, Norman Montgomery, Colin Dowell, Debbie Gillow, Helga Reid and Cheryl Hulston.

Failure - Time ran out for 13 off the team meaning that it was not even worth progressing to Wales to try Snowdon even if it had not been within the 24hours. A bitter blow but that's what challenges are all about.

Starting at Ben Nevis 5:00pm with everyone on top within 2.5 - 3 hours. Completed by 10:00pm

Starting at Scafell 4:40am too dark for photos, on top between 7:00am and 7:30am. Completed between 9:00am and 10:30am

More photos and the rest of the story shortly
