Firecracker X

This was the tenth running of The Firecracker which has earn't the reputation of being the most prestigious meeting in the country for showing off Classic Banger Material. Entry is limited to some 200 cars due to pit space, and there are restrictions on what you can bring, ie Mk2 Granadas are not acceptable nor this year was any jap material, unless they are limo or hearse versions.

There were some 170 entries this year and as per usual there were special awards for the Best Presented/Most Unusual Material.

 

Mark 'Mr. Happy' Mitchell Mark 'Mr. Happy' Mitchell won the Best Presented/Prepared car by public acclaim with his Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire Limousine.
Local man Allen Trickett was awarded second prize again by public acclaim for his supperbley prepared Daimler DS420 Limousine. Allen Trickett
Nick Allem There were a further Special Awards, the 1st of which went to Nick Allam for this Russian 1947 Zil Limousine, (previous owners included the Russian Ambassador to the UK).
Terry Wood took an award for his 30 foot Lincoln Town Car Limousine, which became the longest car raced at a UK banger meeting. Terry Wood
David Toyer Though there were several examples of Rolls Royces on show, David Toyer took a prize for this very smart Silver Shadow.
