Smeatharpe - 22nd August 2001
1300cc Bangers - Domestic
This was an experimental meeting for Autospeed run under temporary floodlights. Some 19 cars in attendance, being a 1300 cc limit, the machinery on show was mainly Fords, metros and Vauxhall's spanning some 30 years, the oldest we believe was Jimmy Charles Mk1 Escort.
Two heats and a speed race into DD produced 17 cars for each of the heats and 10 cars for the final. Heat 1 was won by Kevin Smith (884), which had to be restarted on lap to allow Smith to escape from his rolled car. Heat 2 went to Shane Brown (120), Paul Bryant (123) took the speed race and Kenny Gabriel the DD from Steve Williams (224).
