| 29 cars arrived for this mid-week meeting including the return of points chasing Barry Goldin (401) from Bolton, Lancashire and Gordon Moody (79) from Fife, Scotland. Half car heats, consolation, final and GN was the order of the day. Heat one was a very fast race won by Andy Cooper (451). Heat two proved lively with Goldin (401) taking out a very disgruntled Mike James (717) early on. The rerun provided a win for local star man Tim Farrell (667). Mike James (717) got his car back in shape for the consolation taking the win from the back of the field. All 24 qualifiers made the final which saw a star grade tangle early on involving Bill Batten (167) and Barry Goldin (401), from which Batten retired as did Golden after one further lap. Moody (79) only managed 5th in the 20 lap race which provided another win for Andy Cooper (451) from Rob Batten (467) and Richard James (817). The GN was run after a torrential downpour that sent the spectators running for their cars including us! It also appeared to send some of the drivers home as only 13 cars lined up. Mike James (717) reaped revenge with a win. |
