Blockbuster III - The Action
We made it 146 National Bangers for this the 3rd Annual Blockbuster event. With drivers from all over the UK making the pilgrimage to Cornwall.
The format was 4 heats and 3 consolations prior to the final which had 9 drivers seeded through to it. The heats were won by Mark Simmons (355), Paul King (185), John Millen (917), and Kev Wilshire (96). The consolations were won by Chris Reed (332), Martin Brunson (537) and John Ayles (300). The final went to Mark Simmons (355) from Andy Trippick (98) and Brett Ellacott (162).
Heat 1 and it's all very civilised, but not for long!
Kevin Camden plants the hearse into Rod Foster's XJ6 (264).
Danny Smithson (911) attempts to jack Elliott Dobson's Crown Est. (738).
Scott Carter (73) finds himself facing the oncoming traffic!
Mark Dawson (64) took a pounding in Hellfire corner.
Foster's Jag was destroyed by Camden's Yank hearse.
Heat 2 and it's all action at Hellfire corner again, Graeme Taylor (702) already with damage.
Dave Spooner (66) attempts to keep going after planting the best hit of the heat on Danny Webb (234).
Dave Taylor (112) keeps the 4R going despite a jacking.
Fred Casemore (926) ends up planted into Taylor (702).
Heat 3 and Phil Raynsford's Buick (499) is soon in trouble.
Chris Pearse (747) had the back axle of his XJ6 ripped out from under him.
Jason Thompson (169) takes on the ageing Buick!
Heat 4 and Frankie (455) lines up with Martin Matthew's DS420 Hearse (322) which unfortunatley took some damage while coming onto the track for scrutineering!!
Mark Harding (584) lifts Ian Meaker's '37 Damiler (766) off the back wheels.
The Damiler finally ends up pinned against the armco......
....as the rest of the field pile into Hellfire corner again!
Steve Williams (224 - XJ6) and Albert Keogh (153 - Mk 1) appear to go head to head.
Tim Day (310) ended his consolation race inverted with Martin Brunson (537) left high & dry on the tyres
Frankie (455) jacks down Brett Fry (321)
Nutty Nige (421) administers a large portion to Raymond 'Rusty' Rowe (111)
'Nutty' Nige (421) took hit of the race for this steaming of Rueben Simmons (274)
Brunson (537) and Nick Russell (16) seen actually racing in one of the consolations.
Geoff Bowen (359) lifts Mark Pudiphat (724) into the back of Roger Deer (97)
John Golden (384) gives Geoff Bowen (359) a T-bone in retribution for Bowen's earlier
Karl Slade (10) fires the Mk2 Hearse into the back of Paul Coker (824)
Final and Simon Foreman (796 - XJ6) and Andy Trippick (98 - Mk2) lead the pack out.
and the rest of the field follow through very sedately
those at the back of the grid start to catch up.
