| In 1307 Philippe IV, the King of France, secretly ordered the arrest of all members of the Knights Templar Order and seizure of all their assets. The date on which the arrests should simultaneously take place was Friday, October 13, 1307. On that day large numbers of Templar holdings were raided and the knights within them were taken away to stand trial. |
