Marianne & Tim's Holiday to Kenya - July/ August 2000.

Below are a few photographs and descriptions of some of the things that we saw on our holiday to Kenya.

We left the UK on Monday 24th July and flew to Nairobi. From there we transferred by bus to the Aberedares Country Club and the Ark. The real fun started when we got on the road with our Somak guide Bernard Kilonzo. We were joined in the van by Robert & Ruth Doherty who had recently got married.

Our group of four + driver Bernard.

At Samburu we saw many different sights some of which are featured below:

A couple of elephants enjoying the morning air! ......A cheetah wandering around Samburu

Very tall Giraffe!!

The two of us in one of the few places that it is safe to get out of the bus!!

This monkey decided to keep guard outside our room at Samburu!!

We visited a local tribal village:

The village community (with 2 extras!)

Making fire from twigs.

But the main thing we went to see was the animals:

A rather tired lion!

A leopard ready for the kill!! However he/she didn't succeed!!!

A very tiny monkey!!

Chimpanzees near Sweetwaters Tented camp!

Later we went to the Masai Mara which was not as good (in our view as Samburu in the North)

Male lions having a rest.

A leopard coming out of a tree to say hello!

Vultures getting the scraps from a kill!

For the final week we stayed at Hemingways on the East Coast of Kenya at Watamu
