A very interesting morning as I did not know this site was even there. If there are shipmates I sailed with I would be very interested to hear from them. My address is in the list of members as the last listed due to my surname.

Hello,
I asked for a mailing to be posted last year. I am still looking for anything or anyone that has heard or worked with my Uncle on the AthelMonarch in 1960/61. He was from a small town in Northern Ireland called Larne. He was an engineer although it is unclear what kind of engineer. Thank you for all those people that have tried to help me so far! Jean

Can anyone please let me know anything about the AthelVictor, and it's voyages?
My uncle ( Basil Forward ) was one of her crew ( he was on it when the cargo leaked and exploded at Lagos ). He also later experienced the ship he was on being sunk, and the rescue/captor vessel was hit and sunk again. Any information would be welcome.
Thank you
and Best Wishes,
Raymond

Hi
My Grandfather was on the Athelduke from October 1941 to February 1944. His name was William Leslie Hayman but was known as Frank. I'm trying to find information, pictures, crew members, anything that relates to his time aboard the ship. Please, if anyone can help I would be most grateful.
Kind regards
Debbie

The AthelViking was torpedoed and sunk off of Halifax in January 1945. In July 2003 I was part of the first team of divers to visit (and film) her since that fateful day (she's sitting upright and as far as we saw is perfectly intact). I am extremely interested in finding out if there are any surviving crewmen from that incident in order to record memories, stories, etc for a documentary. Thanks, Brian

Anybody remember my Uncle James Reeves who sailed as Ch. Officer during the war and Master up to the mid 50's.
I have his Albert Medal and Lloyds Medal he received for pulling two engineers from the engine room after the A. Templar has been torpedoed on the Russian Convoys. I sailed with BPTC from apprentice to C/ Engineer.

I was a cadet from '74 to '78, sailing on the Anco Empress, Anco Stane, Anco Duke, Anco Duchess and Anco Sovereign. I'm now living in the San Francisco, CA area, as safety & training manager for a cargo inspection company, so I'm still getting on plenty of tankers. My brother, Phil Alty, was a cadet from '77 to '80. He's now a vessel inspector for Exxon at Fawley near Southampton.
