Other Top & unusual Fruit Having been badly bitten by the fruit bug, I'm now trying
to spread my wings into some of the more unusual fruit.
Apricot
- Prunus armeniaca 'Moorpark' Planted on a South-facing wall in March 01.
First apricots summer '05.
Cherry
- Prunus avium 'Sunburst' on Inmil dwarfing rootstock planted March 00.
Self-fertile, and if I'm lucky it will also pollinate an unknown cherry that's about
12 years old, which doesn't yield.
Elderberries
- Elder Sambucus nigra is a native & grows around here like a weed.
- Sambucus nigra 'Ina' Eastern European cultivar with medium-large fruits & very high
yields.* Planted Nov 00.
- S.n. 'Sampo' Danish cultivar with very large fruits in large clusters, good
flavour, & very high yields.* Planted Nov 00.
*(these descriptions from the Agroforestry Trust.)
Quince
- Cydonia oblonga 'Meech's Prolific' Planted April 01.
