22/8/00: Ryman League Division Three
Tring Town (0) 1
(Kinsley 49)
Bracknell Town (1) 2
(Day 7, Nebbett 59)

Tring's winning run came to an end in last night's game with Bracknell Town despite having fought back with one of the goals of the season. Tring were forced to make two changes to their line up with Antony Beamish in for the injured Phil Turner and Marcus Davis replacing the suspended Scott Walters.

The visitors took the lead from their first attack of the game on 7 minutes. Justin Day was allowed enough time and space on the edge of the area to hit a shot which gave Billy Davies little chance.

However, Tring got back into the game as the half wore on and should have been at least level by the break. On 19 minutes a free kick was flicked on to Lee Johnson, whose shot from point blank range was well saved by the Bracknell keeper Martin Hutt. On 30 minutes Tring were awarded an indirect free kick inside the box, from which Clive Denniss hit a powerful shot which was blocked on the line, and Alex Kinsley put the rebound over the bar. On 34 minutes Davis struck an excellent free kick from just outside the box which was heading in until Hutt dived to palm it onto the post. A minute before the break a cross from Sean Sangster was headed on to Davis, but his first time volley went over the bar.

Tring continued to press forward in the second half and were rewarded in spectacular fashion after four minutes. A header from a defender dropped for Kinsley, and he struck a superb volley from 20 yards. Hutt was left grasping thin air as the ball flew past him into the top corner of the net.

However, Tring gifted the visitors a farcical second goal ten minutes later. Davies was slow to clear a back pass and was caught in possession outside his area. The first resulting Bracknell effort was cleared off the line, but the rebound came to Steve Nebbett, and although Davies got back to his line to save, the ball went in off the post.

Tring piled forward in search of a second equaliser but could not find it. On 69 minutes Davis got to the bye-line and pulled the ball back across the face of goal but nobody could get a touch. In the dying minutes Sangster and Beamish both tried to get on the end of an inviting Mark Underwood cross but got in each other's way. In injury time Bracknell were reduced to ten men when Micky Parker received a second yellow card for a dreadful tackle on Davis but it was too late for Tring to do anything about it.

Team: Davies, Underwood, Denniss, Bartlett, Johnson, Boad, Hemingway (Heywood), Sangster, Davis, Kinsley, Beamish.
