12/9/00: Ryman League Division Three
| Camberley Town (1) 2 | Tring Town (2) 3 |
| (McNamara 7, Wood 57) | (Beamish 23, Walters 29, Boad 74) |
Tring's winning run continued as they came from
behind to chalk up another excellent result in last night's
Division Three game.
Tring made a slow start to the game and went behind after 7 minutes. A corner was headed clear to the edge of the penalty area where Ricky McNamara met it with a well-struck shot which Graham Milner saw late and couldn't keep out despite getting a hand to it.
Tring fought back and almost levelled on 19 minutes when Antony Beamish got on the end of a Sean Sangster cross with a header back across goal which was just wide of the post. On 23 minutes Mark Underwood floated in a free kick which found Beamish in exactly the same place. The header was sent in the same direction only this time it was inside the post and Tring were level.
On 29 minutes Scott Walters received a pass from
Sangster with his back to goal on the angle of the six-yard box.
Walters turned superbly and smashed home a shot to put Tring in
front.
Tring played some excellent football for the remainder of the half and could have gone further in front on 36 minutes when Steve Boad flicked on Underwood's long throw but Walters headed over from close range.
Camberley fought back early in the second half and got back on terms on 57 minutes. Andy Thomas broke down the right and squared for Tony Wood, who controlled the ball and finished well to bring the score back to 2-2.
But Tring showed their character to retake the lead on 74 minutes. Underwood's free kick found Beamish at the far post, and he headed back across the face of goal to Boad, whose shot found the net via a deflection. This time Tring held on to notch up their fourth league win from five games - their best league start in 12 years.
