18/4/01: Ryman League Division Three

Tring Town 0 Egham Town 1

Tring's wretched run continued as they lost their fifth successive match, failed to score for the third match in a row and lost a poor match to a second half goal.

In a first half with little goalmouth action, Tring's best chance came on 9 minutes when Mark Swales, back in the side for the first time in a while, ran on to Scott Walters' lofted pass to clean through on the goalkeeper, however Swales' shot from a narrow angle went just wide of the far post. Tring's biggest scare came on 28 minutes when Simon Bartley kicked the ball straight to Egham's Winston Kentebe, however the big striker's shot at the gaping net went wide.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, but Egham made the breakthrough on 58 minutes. Andrew Durbin found space on the left edge of the Tring penalty area to line up a cross which Aaron Nicholls got on the end of with an unchallenged header that gave Bartley little chance.

Tring rarely looked like getting on the scoresheet themselves, although Walters had a couple of chances, firstly heading wide from Steve Harrhy's cross on 67 minutes, and later in the game, running onto Mark Underwood's pass, Walters looked to have a clear run on goal but allowed the ball to run away from him into the keeper's hands.
