8/5/01: Herts Charity Cup Final

Hitchin Town 3 Tring Town 0

Tring's first County cup final in 18 years ended in disappointment as they were well beaten by Ryman Premier Division side Hitchin Town, in a match played at Hitchin's ground.

Hitchin's first goal came from the penalty spot on 29 minutes, Shaun Marshall netting after Tring keeper Billy Davies had been penalised for tripping Matt Nolan. They doubled their lead a minute before the break when Nolan got on the end of a cross from Rob Kean.

The second half was all Hitchin, but they didn't add a third goal until six minutes from time when Cliff Akurang scored from Stuart Beevor's cross.
