In a scrappy first half their were few chances at either end. In the 3rd minute a deflection left Edgware's Anthony Thomas clean through, but Tring keeper David Clark came off his line to save at Thomas's feet. On 35 minutes Edgware went close again when Ryan Hillary's near post header went just wide.

Three minutes into first half stoppage time, Edgware went in front when Michael Howard's free kick was headed in by Azad Al-Ansari. Tring had created nothing up to that point, but could have equalised further into stoppage time. Gary Clark made a purposeful run into the box and pulled the ball back for Steve Groves, but Groves ballooned the ball over the bar.

The second half was mainly notable for the amount of niggle that crept into the game. Three players from each side were booked, and Tring's Steve Groves was given a straight red on 65 minutes for retaliation in an off-the-ball incident. Tring missed another good chance from a corner on 76 minutes when Leon Hibbert knocked the ball down for Turner, but his shot from six yards went over the bar. Within two minutes Tring were further behind. Denis Maharjan burst through the Tring defence and finished emphatically to make the score 2-0.

There was a glimmer of hope for Tring when Gary Clark's free kick went into the net via a deflection to pull a goal back deep into stoppage time, but it was too little, too late, and Tring's performance scarcely deserved any more.
