Tuesday 10th December 2002 Ryman League Division Two
Kingsbury Town (2) 3 (Jones 29, Randall 45, Moran 67)
Tring Town (1) 1 (Kinsley 34)
At Silver Jubilee Park, Kingsbury
Tring fell to a disappointing defeat in last night's match played in bitterly cold conditions at Kingsbury. Having dominated the opening twenty minutes of the game yet failing to take their chances, some poor defending gifted the win to Kingsbury.

Tring could have been ahead in the third minute of the game. Dean Hutchinson flicked on David Clark's goal kick to put Alex Kinsley clean through, but Kinsley's eventual shot drifted wide of the far post. On 11 minutes Kinsley ran onto Kevin Chakaodza's pass, but this time his shot was saved by the keeper at the near post. On 19 minutes Hutchinson set up Chakaodza with a chance, but although his shot went through the keeper's hands, a defender got back to hack the ball off the line. Chakaodza was through again on 22 minutes only to see his shot turned wide by the keeper's legs. From the resulting corner Hutchinson's header hit the post.

Kingsbury should have been dead and buried by then, but were given hope by some very hesitant defending on 25 minutes. Tring failed to clear a throw-in, leaving Dave Randall a clear shot which Clark did well to save from close range. Three minutes later Stuart McDonald struck the bar with a shot from 18 yards, and on 29 minutes Kingsbury got their reward for a spell of pressure when Daniel Leech beat the offside trap and crossed for Kevin Jones to head home the opening goal.

However, Tring replied quickly. On 34 minutes Kinsley latched on to a through pass and beat a defender before lifting the ball over the advancing keeper for the equaliser. That should have been the cue for Tring to reassert their dominance, but events proved otherwise. In the last minute of the half a Kingsbury free kick was only headed clear to the edge of the area, where Randall met it with a low shot that was not the hardest, but somehow found its way through a crowd of players and crept inside the post to send Kingsbury into the break ahead.

Tring never got going in the second half, and apart from an early effort from Chakaodza which was cleared off the line, they did not put a serious threat on the Kingsbury goal. A mix-up between Clark and a defender on the edge of the area on 67 minutes gifted a third Kingsbury goal to Paul Moran, which effectively killed the game off. Tring looked increasingly dispirited as the game petered out to a dismal end.
