| Tring bounced back from their
drubbing by Leighton to make a perfect start to
the new year. Two tremendous strikes from Alex
Kinsley paved the way for a comfortable win over
Camberley, Tring's biggest win of the season so
far. Tring
manager Howard Cowley commented: "'This was
a very important result for us. Three outstanding
goals - including two superb strikes from Alex
Kinsley - topped a hard-working, well-organised
performance. For a side humiliated on its last
outing, we showed great resolve today. Scoring
first made a difference, but being consistent is
the key : there is not a lot between many of the
sides in this division, so it's down to us to get
our game right from week to week"
The line-up showed several changes from the
previous match. New signing Luke Reid made a
confident debut at right-back in a new-look
four-man defence, while Chris Gibson, one of the
key members of last season's side has returned,
although sat out this game on the bench.
Tring had the better of the opening exchanges,
although didn't create any clear-cut chances
before taking the lead in spectacular style on 12
minutes. Alex Kinsley, whose pace had already
caused plenty of problems for the Camberley
defence, went on another mazy run before
unleashing a shot from 25 yards that flew past
Camberley keeper Chris Westphal for a superb solo
goal.
Westphal was extended by another Kinsley shot on
25 minutes, but this time brought off a save.
Tring went close again on 34 minutes when
Westphal punched away a corner to the edge of the
area, but Andy Sissons returned it with a volley
that was headed off the line by a defender. Three
minutes later Steve Groves floated a cross to the
far post, where Leon Hibbert got on the end of it
but could only divert his header into the side
netting.

Tring were threatening again a
minute before the break when they won a free kick
about 25 yards out from goal. Not for the first
time this season, Kinsley produced a perfect
dead-ball strike, as it curled around the wall
and into the top corner of the net at speed,
giving Westphal absolutely no chance and Tring a
two-goal lead going into the break.
Tring continued to dominate the game and create
chances in the second half. On 50 minutes a
dangerous cross from Reid was diverted by a
defender towards his own goal, forcing Westphal
into a good save, and on 60 minutes a cross from
Dean Hutchinson was met by Groves in front of
goal, but his header was off target. On 65
minutes Kinsley robbed defender Paul Masson
before racing towards goal in search of his
hat-trick, but Westphal saved his angled shot.
However, three minutes later Kinsley made another
purposeful run, but this time squared the ball
across the face of the penalty area to
Hutchinson, who showed the required composure to
sidestep a defender and stab the ball past
Westphal for another impressive goal and a 3-0
lead.
Camberley battled throughout the game, but never
really threatened the Tring goal, ensuring that
keeper Mark Whittamore chalked up his first clean
sheet in a Tring shirt. |
