Tuesday 8th April 2003 Ryman League Division Two
Dorking (0) 0
Tring Town (0) 1 (Chakaodza 83)
At Meadowbank, Dorking
Tring's good run of form continued with another win last night, for which they have to thank an outstanding display of goalkeeping from Lee Turney and a wonder goal from Kevin Chakaodza.

The pattern of the game was established in the opening minute when Dorking's Adam Broomhead hit a shot just wide of the post. Tring struggled to get a foothold on the game and Dorking piled on the pressure. Turney made his first impressive save on 6 minutes to turn Steve Lunn's shot round the post, and saw two other efforts in the opening ten minutes just miss the target.

Tring seemed to have weathered the storm as they had a short spell of pressure, but only created one chance, on 20 minutes when Chakaodza turned and shot just wide from the edge of the six yard box, and the relentless Dorking pressure soon continued. Turney parried a shot from Gani Ahmet on 24 minutes and two minutes later tipped over a shot from Craig Duffell with his fingertips. The first half ended with Alex Kinsley firing a free kick just wide, which was only Tring's second attempt on goal against nine from Dorking, although they had nothing to show for it.

Little changed in the second half, as Tring continued to defend deep and were unable to keep the ball out of their own half for too long. Turney continued to impress, denying Lunn from point blank range on 53 minutes after Duffell's long run had set the chance up, and having a huge stroke of luck ten minutes later when Stuart White's angled shot hit the post and bounced back into his arms.

Dorking's frustration grew as chance after chance slipped by, and on 83 minutes came the moment of inspiration that turned the match in Tring's favour. Chakaodza was fully 40 yards out when he received Dave Watson's pass. Spotting the keeper out of position, he lofted a wickedly swerving shot that curled out of the keeper's reach and back inside the post for a goal that stunned everyone inside the ground.

Even then Turney had to produce another couple of saves over the closing minutes, but Tring held on for their unlikely victory, showing that pressure and chances mean nothing if they are not converted into goals.
