Tring's impressive run of
form continued as a strong second half
performance saw them comfortably past bottom club
Camberley Town. This was a game heavily affected
by the conditions, as a hard, sloping pitch
combined with a strong wind made it difficult for
both sides.
In the first half Tring had both the slope and
the wind against them, and often struggled to get
the ball out of their own half, however the home
created few chances. In the 2nd minute a low,
scudding free kick from Peter Millington-Lee
caused some from problems for Tring keeper Lee
Turney, who grabbed the ball at the second
attempt. Tring's only chance of the half came in
the 9th minute when a high ball dropped for Alex
Kinsley, who volleyed just wide of the post.
Tring suffered a blow when Gary Donaldson was
stretchered off after 15 minutes with a suspected
broken bone in his foot, but there was little
goalmouth action until stoppage time, when
Camberley's Paul Masson headed wide from an
awkwardly curling free kick.
Tring had the conditions in their favour in the
second half, and from the outset it was clear
that they were going to make more of the
advantage than Camberley had, putting more
pressure on the Camberley goal in the opening
minutes of the half than in the whole of the
first half. Tring took control of the game
with an spectacular strike on 54 minutes. Dean
Hutchinson broke from the halfway line, and after
playing a one-two with Kevin Chakaodza,
Hutchinson hit a shot from 25 yards which flew
over the keeper's hand into the top corner of the
net to put Tring in front.
Two minutes later the lead was doubled. Kinsley's
well-flighted corner found Andy Hughes at the far
post. Hughes' header was cleared off the line,
but the loose ball fell for Chakaodza, who
blasted home the easiest goal of his life from
less than a yard out into an empty net.
Tring's lead was never threatened, and the third
goal was added on 83 minutes when Chakaodza beat
the offside trap and ran on to skilfully lob the
keeper for his 11th goal of the season. There
should have been a fourth goal three minutes from
time when Dennis Fenemore's header set up Steve
Groves with a shooting chance, but Groves shot
just wide.
