UK Practical Pistol

Pistols & “Divisions”

With the wide range of equipment available - pistols with 8 round capacity through to pistols with 28 round capacity, optical sights etc., it was necessary to find a way of “levelling the playing field”, so that all had an equal chance in competition. The answer was “Divisions”, which whilst not a perfect solution (and they’re constantly under review), do even things out.

A full breakdown of the Divisions as they were for the 2002 season can be found in the IPSC/UKPSA Shooting Principles & Rules for 2002, a copy of which can be downloaded from the UKPSA web site - a long document, but well worth having if you’re serious about PP competitions.

Following the 2002 season there has been a full review of the Divisons structure, the objective of this being to simplify things whilst ensuring that all continue to complete on a “level playing field”.

So, for 2003 the revised Divisions are as follows:-
