Breeding Season

Dscf0017.jpg (155614 bytes) During Breeding season, a feeding hen gets one teaspoon  of soft food with probiotic, one teaspoon soak seed,  one teaspoon garden peas,  one small piece of broccoli, all placed on a 6 inch tray, twice a day morning & night.

To feed the bird through out the year

Chickweed

Dscf0015.jpg (455876 bytes)Still the best food for your bird if you can find it. Make sure the chickweed is free from contamination, Clean and not been sprayed with weed killer.

Dandelions

Dscf0001.jpg (258494 bytes)Pick Dandelions with the root on, wash the leaves and root's in water, when clean spilt the root and give to your birds. They are a rich source of vitamins & minerals such as a, b, c,  calcium, iron.

Broccoli

Dscf0008.jpg (133257 bytes)This is one of the best foods for your birds as it contains lots of vit-c iron & carotene.

Frozen garden pea's

Dscf0022.jpg (88732 bytes)This is one of the best green foods I have used for years, defrost them in water before you give them to your birds break them up with a fork.

Soak seed

Dscf0025.jpg (96688 bytes)This practice my sound silly but try it, it works.   Place 1lb of mix seed in a jug and add 1 tablespoon of bleach and fill up with cold water; stand for 24 hours, Place in a sieve, wash under cold running water till the water run's clear, place on a work top with a tub on the bottom and a cover on top. This will start to sprout in two day's, you can feed this to day old chicks with no adverse affects.

Carrots

Dscf0014.jpg (390961 bytes)Grater fresh carrot in to the soft food  all year round.

Sweetcorn

Dscf0023.jpg (73813 bytes)Buy young baby frozen Sweetcorn, defrost and break them up, mix in to soft food.

I try to feed the birds as natural as possible

Most days they get some sort of extra food, as well as mixed seed & water.
