To feed the bird
through out the year
Chickweed
Still
the best food for your bird if you can find it. Make sure the chickweed
is free from contamination, Clean and not been sprayed with weed killer.
Dandelions
Pick
Dandelions with the root on, wash the leaves and root's in water, when
clean spilt the root and give to your birds. They are a rich source of
vitamins & minerals such as a, b, c, calcium, iron.
Broccoli
This
is one of the best foods for your birds as it contains lots of vit-c
iron & carotene.
Frozen garden pea's
This
is one of the best green foods I have used for years, defrost them in
water before you give them to your birds break them up with a fork.
Soak seed
This
practice my sound silly but try it, it works. Place 1lb of mix seed in
a jug and add 1 tablespoon of bleach and fill up with cold water; stand
for 24 hours, Place in a sieve, wash under cold running water till the
water run's clear, place on a work top with a tub on the bottom and a
cover on top. This will start to sprout in two day's, you can feed this
to day old chicks with no adverse affects.
Carrots
Grater
fresh carrot in to the soft food all year round.
Sweetcorn
Buy
young baby frozen Sweetcorn, defrost and break them up, mix in to soft
food.
I try to feed the birds
as natural as possible
Most days they get some
sort of extra food, as well as mixed seed & water.
