Seriously real glamour photography started in the 20's due to Hollywood and film fans. Stars realised that having sexy pictures of themselves enhanced their careers and supplied a need from their fans.
 
In the Style.50's 60's
This came to a climax in the 40's, 50's & 60's with stars like Munroe, Grable and Loren. As time moved on and men's magazines started to take hold in the 70's so glamour photography started to change. As public acceptance of nudity increased so magazine pictures moved more into soft pornography. (Of course what's soft and hard is really dependant upon your personal opinion.)
Glamour through the 70's 80's and early 90's nose dived, but lately there has been a resurgence of glamour with a new breed of men's magazines. Almost full circle to the film star glamming it up for her fans.

Another side to the coin is the fact that pornography is now easily attainable and seeing a woman, no matter how beautiful, showing everything leaves no sense of mystery. Lets face it there will always be a place for glamour. Calenders immediately spring to mind, then there are posters, and how about advertising to men in industrial situations. A girl sweating with her clothes in dissaray trying to fit a tyre using a useless jack. Oh the list is almost endless. You can earn money from this branch of photography, I do as a semi pro.
