Or read belowThe first and most obvious place to look is the photographic press. Many models advertise their services, as do many studios. Most studios I have found are honest and provide excellent facilities, but I strongly suggest that you check them out before parting with any money. They will all require a substantial deposit when making a booking. The model can be hired at the same time as the studio, but again do not be fobbed off. Make your requirements clear, as you are paying make sure you get what you want. Quite a lot of professional glamour models work from their own home and can provide studio type lighting. Remember that this is a cheaper and much friendlier option, but will not have the equipment a full-blown studio can provide. This is generally my preferred option. There are several companies that provide booklets of glamour models details with contact information and these are really very good value for money. Again you will find them advertising in the amateur photo magazines. If you wish to do some outdoor work I suggest that you find a model first that you work well with. After you have got to know her better then arrange financial arrangements with her, it will be far cheaper this way. Please remember these models work with some really weird types, so once they realise how nice you are they will be happy to negotiate terms. IMPORTANT Always be up front about the type of pictures you want to do when asking price, as there is nothing worse than describing a pose you want and the model refuses. Get it sorted before you go. The other option of course is to use girls you meet. If they are attractive you will not be the first to ask so be prepared. After I put together a quality portfolio of my work the success of asking increased from about 10% to now over 80%. If a girl can see you produce quality pictures of other beauties then she'll be flattered rather than thinking it's just a line. Most girls are happy to model for a set of the pictures. Obviously if you intend to sell the work then you will need to get her to sign a model release form. Models usually charge a little extra for this. About charges. Here in London a Model charges about £30-£40 per hour for glamour topless, but I expect this varies around the country. Studios usually charge an inclusive fee for both, but price varies a lot between studios. I've worked in brilliant pro studios with everything a man could desire and places that are advertised as studios, but no more than a front room. In this instance the charge was the same. As I said earlier check out what you are getting for your hard earnt money. There are too many genuine people out there for you to have to get ripped off. Most Important of all. It's something I've seen so many times. Before you start have some idea about what you want to do. Clothes, props etc. do not leave it until you arrive. You're paying so make use of the time. Models cannot read minds and simply can't respond to a shoulder shrug from behind the camera. Last but not least. If you use an ordinary girl, please do not disappoint her with crap pictures. It spoils it for the rest of us. Good luck and enjoy |
