This is obviously a well
thought out professional shot.
Notice first of all that the background is misty and well
out of focus. This brings the model immediately to the
front of the shot, with no distractions for the eye at
all. Secondly she is lit with natural light from behind,
highlighting her hair and right (our left) side, again
bringing our eyes to the main feature.
Her eyes are in sharp focus and the pose looks natural
and comfortable. The eye contact is excellent making the
viewer feel the model is interested in them.
Pitfalls
To keep the background out of focus a wide aperture is
required making pin sharp focus even more important. The
sun is somewhere over her left shoulder so her face would
be in shadow and look too dark. A reflector is needed to
light the models front. Here I suspect a warmish toned
reflector has been used. Beware of stray sunlight
bouncing around inside the lens. The photographer has
given the model sunglasses to hold, which just brings a
little natural feel to her hands.
