He has also worked with
tabla player Talvin Singh, violin virtuoso Dr L Subramanium, and sarangi master Ramesh Mishra and tabla masters Sarwar Sabri, Partha Murathi Mukherje, and Ustad Faiyaz Khan. 2 of his compositions are on a World Music compilation Crossing Borders alongside tracks by Trilok Gurtu, Hariprasad Chaurasia and Larry Coryell. He has supported Ali Farka Toure, The Saw Doctors, Baka Beyond, Frances Black, and many others...

chris conway's history in world music

Chris Conway's world music usually centres around Indian Music or Celtic Music.
Indian music interest began after studying sitar for a year with Dharambir Singh. A meeting with more advanced student Carl Peberdy led to the formation of The Rain Garden, UK tours, a host of cassette albums and 1 CD in their 15 year association.
He was then noticed and toured with Pusjkala Gopal & Unnikrishnan classical dance troupe. This in turn led to his meeting and touring with Jazz Orient (also known as Re-Orient for their ARC Music CDs), recording 4 CDs.
He also played with Dr L Subramanium, Talvin Singh, Ramesh Mishra, Sarwar Sabri, Kumar Saswat during this time. Currently he tours now and then with kathak dancer Nilima Devi's dance projects.
In 03 he released Ayurveda blending Indian influences with relaxation and atmospheric music.

Celtic music began when, influenced by Alan Stivell he formed the Celtic band Universal Spirit in his college days, then adding Celtic touches to The Rain Garden sets. He then joined The McMahons & Dan Britton (later known as Govannen) recording 1 CD in 04 with them, Healing Waters, mixing traditional styles with atmospheric music and an upbeat rhythmic album Celtic Fire with them in 07.
He recorded and produced 2 albums for Celtic harper France Ellul in 05 and 07.

He has always infused Celtic touches on his singer-songwriting albums and live sets - there's usually at least a couple of Celtic tracks on each CD.

Over the years his low and tin whistle playing, and especially his improvising on them, have become trademarks and he is in demand for recording sessions.
