The Geneva Sub was the Chicago and Northwestern’s main route west. This line is now of course operated by the Union Pacific and sees a large amount of varied traffic including coal, intermodal and general merchandise traffic. The action is also spiced up by the Chicago Metra commuter trains which add to the variety and makes this line accessible to anybody.

During 1997 several locations were visited along this route including the main terminal depot in downtown Chicago, Proviso yard at Bellwood, West Chicago and Geneva. Click on the locations below to view the pictures.
