Blaze Sign New Goalie

Coventry Blaze ice hockey team are delighted to confirm recent speculation as to the identity of their first choice netminder for season 2002-03. 26 year old Canadian, Jody Lehman, will be taking the responsibility of backstopping the Blaze during the season.

The North Battleford, Saskatchewan native has been playing in South Carolina for the Stingrays in the East Coast League for the last four years. In addition he has played a number of games in the American Hockey League for Rochester Americans. Standing 5'11" tall and weighing 190 lbs the talented goalie comes with glowing references from his coaches and fans of the Stingrays.

Lehman was the starting netminder during the Stingrays championship winning season a couple of years ago, and coach Paul Thompson expects his experience to prove vital for the Blaze next year.

"The league has improved to a level where I feel that we have to bring a guy in with Jody's experience. He is regarded as one of the top goaltenders in the coast and has experience in the AHL with Rochester. I'm delighted to secure his signature for this coming season and he will, without doubt, make us a more complete hockey club."

Operations Director, Grant Charman, confirmed "Jody has been a fans favourite in South Carolina and they are unhappy at loosing him. I'm sure that he's going to be a real star in this league and will give us a really solid, dependable, last line of defence this season."
