July 02Tasker Back to Fire BlazeCoventry Blaze ice hockey team are delighted to confirm that GB international forward, Michael Tasker will be lining up in the sky blue of the Blaze for Season 2002-03. Despite strong rumours linking the fiery forward to BNL new-boys, Newcastle Vipers, Tasker has committed himself to the Blaze for the next 2 seasons and will therefore be in the Blaze line-up through to the end of Season 2003-04. A gritty, aggressive, player, Tasker will be linking up with his international coach, Paul Thompson, again and will be looking to build on the very solid performances he put in last season. One of the top British players in the league, Tasker finished the season with 36 points (including a four goal game) and 107 minutes in penalties. Having represented GB at the last two World Championships the 5'11", 190lb, North Easterner will be looking to continue his international career and to enhance his already dynamic reputation as one of the hardest working forwards in the league. The 29 year old still lives in the North East and travels to Coventry each week with team mate and long time friend Shaun Johnson. "Micheal has played for me for 3 seasons now and I'm glad to have secured his services for the next 2 seasons. I know what I'm going to get from him every game and he is the kind of player that will give his team everything he has got, every night. Since playing for the Blaze over the last 3 seasons I feel he has developed his overall game and has done a fantastic job in all offensive positions on every line for the Blaze." Tasker himself added "I'm really delighted to be back for another 2 seasons - I really had no intention of signing for anyone else. This is my club!" |
