Herf Yotter (HERF YACHT-er) is similar to Gelmir. Its coast is on the Pirate Sea.
A Yotti (YACHT-ee) will kill foreign males on sight. They do not trade with anyone except Gelmiri, who are not counted as foreigners.
They are also headhunters. Shamans preserve the heads, and there are bunches hanging from each hut. The number of heads is a reflection of the family’s rank.
Marriage is by capture, although often this is no more than a formal ceremony after long negotiations between the families. Foreign females belong to the first man to rape or seduce them, and are usually treated as concubines rather than full wives, their children being raised by the husband’s mother.
Cattle are wealth. They are not killed for anything as mundane as food. It is an honor, though an impoverishing one, for a tribe to be chosen to supply the herd sacrificed by shamans at tribal gatherings.
A ritual scar is incised on a warrior’s cheek each time he kills an enemy.
They wear their hair in topknots, to make it easy for their skull to be carried when they are slain.
Eagles are sacred. Dead bodies are tied in tree-tops, so that the eagles can feast on the corpse’s flesh, because only when the bones have been picked clean can the soul leave for the Halls of the Gods, where it will feast and fight for eternity.
