ORASET OF ORASET
"Now this is the story of Oraset: He was born in Xyra and committed there the worst of sins, for he lusted after his own full sister, and slew his mother and his father when they would have denounced him. But the priests found out Oraset’s evil, and he fled. He used his powers upon his sister, so that she obeyed him in everything, though her soul wept. But his brother pursued him to slay him, and found him in Vailand, learning the ways of the wicked priests of Death. Yet when Sethuk approached him to slay him, Oraset laughed, and cast a great binding on him. So even Sethuk the Avenger was bound by Oraset to a thousand years, and a half thousand years, of servitude."
This story is treated with scorn in Oraset ("Would the Gods allow a murderer to become a Power?"), but even so the attitude to Oraset is ambiguous. He is revered as the founder of the country, but mothers say to their children:
"Be good, or Oraset will come for you."
In Xyra Oksit the Trickster is a very minor God included in the ancestor-shrines of the Kahm family. They say that he was born to them ages ago, was driven out for an unmentionable crime, and later became powerful in the west.
In Brokk Oraset is remembered with hatred.
