Wotar (WOE-tar) is the land of hybrids. They outnumber the human population. The people are called the Wotari (woe-TAR-ee). The coast is on the Pirate Sea.
Not much was been recorded about Wotar before the fall of Brokk.
"Wotar is a poor and infertile land sparsely populated by a backward people," is the description of one Brokki chronicler. The stories of the native nomads of Wotar seems to confirm this; they speak of a time of peace when their ancestors traveled on foot with great herds of cattle, from the high summer pastures to the winter grazing.
When the Empire of the Mages in Brokk collapsed, many people fled to the surrounding nations. Five powerful Mages came to Wotar, and set themselves up as its ruling council. They became known as the Great Makers.
The five Great Makers were Lord Valdamir, Lord Roznan, Lady Narvah, Lord Veless and Lady Matushka. Their first decision was to name their settlement Vrosk.
The Great Makers created a workforce of quick-breeding hybrids. They paid little attention to abandoned projects, simply discarding rejected hybrids into the wild. Matushka traveled extensively and gathered specimens of existing hybrids from all over Varna.
The uncontrolled release of hybrids into the wild eventually became an obvious problem. Even Vrosk itself was occasionally raided by hybrids searching for food. The native Wotari suffered far more, and refused to trade with Vrosk until the problem was solved. The Great Makers decided, after much argument, to abandon their independent work and pool their knowledge, proceeding with a joint project. This project has led to war, famine and death for the human Wotari, and even one of the Great Makers is now dead. At least one other is mad.
Each stable hybrid population has its own society: Antmen, Centaurs, Dwarfs, Flymen, Gargoyles, Griffins, Harpies, Krell (octopus-human), Lamias, Minotaurs, Orchids (plant-human), Satyrs, Viren (frog-human) and Werewolves.
