Help
needed... for Junior Church and Youth Club

Junior Church We are looking for more Leaders to help out in Junior Church. At present we have over 60 children on the registers. This is great! Ideally we would like to have four Groups. At present the Groups are as follows: Scramblers - Reception and Year 1 (4 and 5 years olds) Climbers - Year 2 and 3 (6 to 7 years olds) No-name Explorers - Year 4 onwards (8 years old onwards) We would like to introduce another group for the older children. We will be losing a number of Leaders this summer, so we could be down to 10 Leaders. If you wish, come and observe the Junior Church teaching and if it suits you sign up! There are several roles within Junior Church. You can lead the teaching or just help another Leader. Ideally we would like two leaders to each group per session, but this cannot always be possible.
The Youth Club is run by volunteers within the Parish giving up their own free time to help. We cannot run without their commitment to the youngsters. Three of our Leaders are retiring from Youth Club after twelve years, this will leave us with two male Leaders. We are on the look out for several new leaders (particularly female) to join us in September 2009. Without any more Leaders we will have to disband the Club. Youth Club usually meets fortnightly on a Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9.00pm during term times. The youngsters who attend are from Year 7onwards (12 year olds). The youngsters have a choice to play games in the hall or "chill out" in the basement which we call the "Den". It has a lovely seating area where we discuss all sorts of things. A donation of a TV and video has expanded the use of the seating area allowing other Church Groups to use the "comfortable facilities". Every year St Bart's Youth Club go away for a weekend, this has been to Whithaugh Park for past few years. This is a weekend enjoyed by all. (See p10 for a report on this year's trip.)
If you feel like giving your time to help either the Junior Church and/or the Youth Club, or if you know of anybody that would be interested in helping, please contact Doug Kay on 0191 266 7593.
