Crusade Comfort
A message from home for the South Derbyshire Crusade
Special Feature this week
Weston on Trent
Organised by the holy Roman Emperor and Pope
Geoff the Last
Weston on Trent is a village near the major metropolis of Ambaston and Castle Donington which holds weekly markets which attract customers from smaller hamlets like Aston, Derby and even obscure places like Nottingham. The village is divided into two halves by the River Trent which flows near to the New Plough Public House.
The village is surrounded by forest on all sides and is dominated by the ancestral home of the Loxleys - Weston Hall. The hall is currently the winter residence of the Sheriff of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
The usual variety of village societies including the Hysterical Society, the Under 5's and they have (as you would expect) a very active church.
Recent activities in the village have revolved around fund-raising for a bridge over the river Trent. Head of fund-raising, Little John (Dawson) says that if all goes well then the bridge will be open this month.
How to make a Crusade Cap
1. First find a rectangular piece of paper and fold it into two. Take each side and fold it back on itself to make a W shape. Press flat. |
2. Fold in each of the four corners of the paper until you have the following shape |
Fold in the remaining corners. This is known as "the boat shape". Your parents might also know this as the "hat shape"..... but we don't think its a good hat yet. |
Now the tricky bit. Turn up the bottom along the dotted line until you get ....(try concentrating on getting the end folded and then try and get the side folds in the correct place) |

There are rumours amongst the crusaders that circumstances are poor back home. We have been assured by the King's brother Prince John that all is well. Obviously there are some temporary problems which may have been exaggerated. Prince John and his Sheriffs are doing all they can to look after the country during our absence.
There will be a raffle in aid of local charities. First prize will be two family tickets to see "Tales of Robin Hood". Please put the word round during the interval as only "Robin's Men know about this. The raffle will be drawn during Act 3 scene 1 or 2.
