Message from our leader

1214 was a hard year, but due to your efforts I managed to send over £25,000 pounds to Prince John to cover expenses etc. I was particularly pleased with the excellent leadership given by Gish of Ashbourne and the dedication shown by his men. The trouble that had been seen in Southern Derbyshire has now been subdued, especially since my mother (Ian Cook) and I took up residence at Weston Hall

This year promises to be even more difficult so I will have to ask again for additional efforts. As you know we have had some financial problems, but if this years targets are hit then I will be able to pay the two years wages which have not been paid. As you know times are hard, but work hard and we will win!

Lee Cooper (Sheriff of Nottinghamshire etc. etc.)

Last Month’s Assizes was very successful placing five more into slavery, evicting twelve families and raising four pounds, five shillings, eleven pence and twenty three fingers.

King Richard’s Ransom: It is now the second anniversary of the appeal. The Sheriff, his mother and Gish have personally contributed very large sums each week. Prince John has revealed that the national total now stands at over six pounds eleven shillings (before administration fees and Ransom Tax).

Groundless Rumour: Please ensure that the surrounding villagers are aware that the Rector at Weston-on-Trent left for his own reasons. He was not hounded out of the church a week last Thursday on Lady Dorothy of Nottingham’s express orders. The new rector (Pauline Collins) will be very welcome as long as she avoids commenting on moral issues.

The Sheriff has contributed the third prize for the raffle. Please tell others during the interval as they may not be aware of how generous the Sheriff can be. The raffle will be drawn in Act 3 Scene 2.

Lost Child ... Concerns are growing for Marian FitzWalter recently reported missing by the Sheriff of Nottingham(34). His mother(29) says "We are very worried about little orphan Marian (Lydia Bamkin) as she is quite naïve and may be taken advantage of by the ruffians and villains who live around here". Soldiers are permitted to use any unreasonable force necessary to save this poor girl for her own protection.

Eviction Orders and Death Warrants can now be obtained from the Quartermaster in lots of twenty. Please do not complicate the paperwork with pardons and pleas of extenuating circumstances.

Special Request: The Sheriff’s torturer’s do not have a pleasant job as it’s very damp in the dungeons. Their job is complicated by soldiers not telling them why someone is being tortured. It does make it very difficult to find the answer when nobody knows the question. Please give them a clue when depositing new guests.

Curses: The Sheriff and Prince John understand that the squatters who live in the area around Weston Village Green plan to meet in the Pillage Hall at the end of February. A number of organisations have assisted with this meeting and they will be made to suffer. Particular "thanks" will be given to

and the Village Hall Committee who encouraged the conspiracy from the start.

The Sheriff is currently having to apply for planning permission for some new dwellings he plans to build in Weston on Trent. If any soldiers find locals who are not supportive of this application then they need to be given the Sheriffs "special protection". The new dwellings may necessitate some reorganisation of the locals. Overtime and "Meanie of the year" points will be available for all.

Recruitment Drive: Bearing in mind that the Sheriff will be offering unlimited overtime then his management team feel it is important that

Remember that the long term future is only available with Prince John and the Sheriff. Each new recruit is a life saved for the future of England!
