from the Church Elders of St. Mary's Weston

Weston on Trent has been a village for some years and there has been a church for the last 200 years at least near the cliff. We have recently lost our Rector, but the Elders expect a new incumbent imminently. The elders believe that the new charter (see below) will not effect the day to day running on the church.

Hopefully Weston can avoid the troubles that we hear of in other areas of England. The Sheriff we are sure will come to understand the ways of the village now that he has moved into Weston Hall.

There have also been reports of a Witch who has recently saved an Oak Tree. The elders would like to state that they do not approve of Witchcraft and they trust that this incident will be soon forgotten.

Did you know ....?

Forthcoming Events

The monthly meeting of the under 5's will discuss fund-raising. Little John will chair the meeting at a date yet to be agreed.

On the 11th January, Prince John signed a royal charter confirming the grant of the "Soke" of Weston to the Abbott of St Werburgh in Chester. (Anyone finding the "soke" should leave it behind the bar).

Mail can still be forwarded to those at the crusades via Castle Donington International Pigeon Port. Special thoughts this week for Robin of Loxley (Diane Poole) who has been away for some years.

A free crust will be available to all families at this months coffee morning. These will be handed out by Much on behalf of his Father.

Second Prize in the raffle has been contributed by your village elders. The prize will be a bottle of Blind Pugh's Universal Remedy.
