Some 500 years ago in middle-Europe, one of the most important inventions in the history of mankind emerged when the first printing-presses appeared. Today, there is another revolution taking place ~ a new and infinitely more powerful and compelling electronic media, which will change the way we communicate and learn. This video, produced with the assistance of the DTI and the Information Society Initiative, will introduce you to some of the language and terminology associated with the revolutionary advances in information exchange ~ terms like 'The Internet', 'World-Wide-Web', 'Electronic Mail', 'CD ROM' and 'Video-Conferencing'. Each area is approached with the minimum amount of technical jargon, as we unveil the mysteries behind the buzz-words of the '90s ~ words such as 'Multimedia','Cyberspace','E-Mail' and 'The Information Super-Highway'. Once the concepts have been introduced, we look at how they can be applied in the real world environments of Business and Education.
