VIRTUAL SCHOOL OF ENGLISH

Completely revised web-site due late August for the new term

The first class in "English" in the world was taught by an Irishman called Sheridan to some Scottish Parliamentarians in Edinburgh. After they were forced to speak at the English Parliament after 1707, the Scots found that they were having difficulty being understood and instead of standing their ground, tried to learn how to speak like the English.

It seems appropriate at a time when this state of affairs is coming to an end, that a new and universal medium - the World Wide Web - should be continuing the tradition of teaching English from Scotland, this time to an audience in the whole world.

These pages should work perfectly with the following browsers: Internet Explorer 3.0 and above; Netscape Navigator 3.0 and above. If you are experiencing any difficulties, please e-mail us at virtualschool@btinternet.com.
