Pressies

1. He buys you gifts: this can be extended to thoughtful gifts.. (lot of choosing time) or just the "I need to buy a girl a present, yes that'll do, thank you, how much ?, ok I'll have the small one" (10 second choosing time)

Talking

2. He'll go out of his way to talk to you BUT will have spent an awful lot of time think about what he's going to say. By the time he does though he will say something completely different and you'll think "he's kind of nice, but must be a complete arsehole to say that".

Pulling Your Pigtails

3. He might be insulting. maybe a bit caveman'ish this but it kind of makes sense. To get your attention (but most importantly get a reaction) he might insult you. The intensity of the insult will be directly related to the amount he likes you. If it's a really bad one though it will immediately followed by a good apology. 

Compliments

4. He might solicit compliments. Men are massively insecure at the most basic level. What we don't understand is that most women are as well. We view women as being confident and having the ability to have any man (which is basically true in the way women wanting men and men wanting women thing works). Men, on the other hand, see the job of 'getting' a woman to be really difficult as they see themselves as being at a distinct disadvantage. Getting the woman to compliment you removes the insecurity (but only for a while).

5. He might do nothing. It may not be important to him. He might be scared. I don't really understand this one but I've seen it. a friend fancies another friend but does nothing to push it forward. When you ask him why he just shrugs. But you can see that by the time the girl is being shagged by someone else it's ripping his insides to shreds.
