Even if you have anti-spam software ...
I have lots of email accounts and get spam all the
time. I do something about it tho' and have managed to help to get several spammers
accounts closed. Most spammers will fake their email address, so simply pressing 'reply'
and changing the name before the @ to abuse will not work. Check the headers for the
originators address (or email server, people fake addresses), then all you need to do is
return the mail to abuse@thedomainname.
If the email server is called mail1.nobody.nowhere
try sending the mail to abuse@nobody.nowhere.
With mail systems like hotmail and AOL you will
receive an autoreply.
We do not recommend replying to "Remove"
email addresses, because this can confirm that your email address is active and invite
more unwanted email to your account.
Include the full header and details in the body of
your reply so the abuse department know who sent the mail originally.
Don't use your real address in Usenet postings or
change it slightly, e.g. if your address is ami@loverhandles.com
try using ami@nospamlovehandles.com. Most
people will understand ...
Keep reporting the spam and get those bandwidth
bandits out. |
