Head and NeckThe head is the most important part of the whole model to get right. It is the focal point and the part the eye sees first. The basic construction of the head was based upon the 1973 Radio Times 'How to build a Dalek' Article. The head was first fashioned crudely in plaster and progressively smoothed with the help of a wooden former followed by plenty of sandpaper. This plaster head then had the eye slot cut into it before taking a fiberglass Mould from it. The eye stalk was made from a length of dowel with a 'Fairy' wash ball, filled with resin and covered with a Perspex disk, for the eye. Neck rings were cut from plywood, sanded to shape and constructed around a metal mesh former.
