TRAINING

Ted Bradford has successfully completed three sessions of coaching for Surrey Archers. This was originally intended for the ranked archers in the county, but as there was insufficient take up the invite was extended to other archers. The sessions have proved a great success but, of course, the proof is in the pudding. I hope to see great results during the coming season so that when the selection of the squad for the Inter County matches is made everyone will be ready, willing and able to represent their County. Thanks Ted.

Please remember, if you are selected, please respond as soon as possible to that the selectors can pick the strongest team. (Remember to submit your twelve dozen round scores.)

I am looking to arrange coaching sessions from September 2011 to April 2012 so if anyone is interested please let me know with your e-mail address. Priority will be given to county ranked archers but if you get your name in early your name will be put on a list which will be used on a first come first served basis after the ranked archers.

COACHING

The first UKCC Level One course in the county has now been completed. Well done to all the participants. On the 10th April ten very nervous candidates went into their assessment and eight very happy coaches emerged, two were reasonably happy but have some further paperwork to complete prior to their qualification being confirmed. Unfortunately, two candidates were unable to attend the assessment as they were both out of the country for different reasons. I am working with Archery GB to try to arrange alternative dates for them to be assessed.

An additional four candidates have been training in Hampshire and their assessments are due this week-end. Good luck them.

A plea to all prospective candidate coaches, please ensure that you are able to attend all sessions, including the assessment before undertaking the course. Failure to do so will incur additional charges as UKCC Assessors are centrally assigned by Archery GB and most courses run with maximum learners for the assigned Assessors.

If any archer or club is aware of a venue at which archer training sessions or coach training courses can be held please let me know as a matter of urgency. The venue should be available all day, with facilities for a minimum of three targets and space for teaching and be of a reasonable cost. Coach training courses now have to be registered seven months in advance of their start date so I am looking for somewhere during the autumn/winter.
