Report of the Outdoor Tournament Organisers on 49th County of Surrey Archery Association Outdoor Championships held at Kingston University Sports Ground on Sunday 21st July 2002
The proceedings were opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Kingston and unusually they both shot an opening arrow, with the Mayoress actually achieving a hit on the 70metre Ladies target.
The officials for the day were:-
Judges:- Maggie Woolf, Paula Golding, George Potts, Andy Woodger, Kevin Thurlow and Stan Bartoz
Lady Paramount:-Glynis de la Bertouche
This year there were 34 targets which is a little down on last year which we think is due to the changes by GNAS in the qualifying rounds for MB status now having to be all record status and not just County Championships.
The weather was warm and dry but a variable wind made shooting interesting especially at the longer distances.
We would like to thank all of the archers for attending the shoot and for helping the Field Party moving and re-setting the bosses. Mary Grace and her husband were again in attendance providing both archers and helpers with refreshments throughout the day. There is also a thank you to go the James Taylor for writing the programme that made the results appear well before the raffle was finished.
See you all next year, on 20th July 2003.
