County of Surrey Archery Association
Autumn Longbow Championships
Held on Saturday, 6 September 2003
Our second two-way Western of the year was held on the ground of Woking Archery Club. Yet again we had reasonable weather, although a couple of short sharp showers failed to disrupt proceedings. Otherwise we experienced variable breezes and a fair amount of sunshine.
We offer our thanks to those members of Woking Archery Club who made the shoot possible by their cheerfulness and help in setting up the field, and to all those who helped Woking bring the equipment in at the end. Mary Tapley and Brenda Champion did wonders in the kitchen, and where would we be without Judy Friedlander to serve the sherry!
Our Lady Paramount was Joy Balls, from Malden, who has always been closely associated with this tournament and ran it together with her husband, Stan, for many years.
As you all know we have to cap entries at 90. Although the shoot was full a couple of months ago, a few last minute cancellations meant that we were not crowded on the field. When people let us know they cannot come it is appreciated, and enables us to offer places to those on our waiting list.
It was lovely to see you all and we hope that you all enjoyed the shoot as much as we, the organisers did.
Our first shoot next year will be held on Saturday, 1 May and entry forms will be sent out in January
