Division
2 Report
Between Steve Connor and the Team Captains the Division basically
ran itself from my point of view. There were no disputes, no incidents and
any postponements were agreed between the Captains - and I was advised. So
thank you and well done to all concerned!

In the end,
Formby 1 were clear and worthy winners. Congratulations to them and good
luck on their return to the top flight.
However, it was not apparent from the start of the season that they would
even be in contention and at the half way point they were only on 8 points
- but a powerful second half display saw them move clear with a 3-point
margin. There then really was not much difference in strength between 2nd
and 7th with everybody beating everybody else.
It was good to see
Waterloo
1 challenging again as they were Division 1 champions not that many years
ago. Atticus 3, Aigburth 2 and
Southport
1 all had their moments and until later in the season, when the number of
matches played started to equalise, it was not clear who the likely winner
was likely to be. Hoylake and Atticus 4 never really looked strong enough
to be near the top but equally they were both too good to be in danger of
being bottom. Wallasey B
started brightly with 2 wins out of their first 3 matches – but sadly
they were the only wins they had all season and after a number of years of
comfortably holding their own in this Division the loss of some key
players took its toll.

As can be seen, the battle for Player of the Year was
amazingly close. In the end Mike Haslinger and Anthony Pimblett were joint
winners with identical records – congratulations to them both. Also a
mention for Gareth Haslinger who was undefeated and won all but one game.
