A Church where Jesus Christ is at the centre - The Bible is our guide - People Matter
My name is Paul Martin, I am a young 51 years, married to Judith, a Primary School teacher, and we have three children, Laura a dance teacher, Simon a student studying Geography and Geology at Edge Hill University and Katherine who is at sixth form studying for a Diploma in Creative and Media along with A level Psychology and Maths. I was born in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire the third of four children.
I have had a variety of jobs including working the land, striking beet, picking potatoes/strawberries (I probably ate more strawberries than I picked), office junior at a Quantity Surveyor’s, Lab Technician for a plastics company, Pollution Control Technician at British Steel, Primary School teacher and Househusband.
My hobbies include DIY, woodworking and woodturning, and playing billiards (not too well). Although recently there has been very little time for many of these because of my studies. I have been studying Theology on the Northern Ordination Course based at The College of the Resurrection at Mirfield for four years. I have also studied Education and Chemical Engineering which related to previous employment.
My Christian life began about thirteen years ago after supporting my children at parade services when I came across a church where I felt welcomed and supported and my gifts of time and knowledge in helping to maintain the building were appreciated. I became an accredited Local Preacher in 2002 and have spent some time working with asylum seekers and I did a placement with the Chaplaincy team at HMP Leeds.
