Regent and her sistership Resource were designed to keep the fleet, and particularly the aircraft and commando carriers, supplied with missiles, bombs, depth charges, torpedoes and other weaponry. Above: A helicopter from aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal (R09) lands on RFA Resource (A480) in 1973. For many years Resource and sistership Regent were the only RFA ships with a helicopter permanently embarked, but in April 1987 the Wessex 5 was withdrawn from service and they lost this facility.
