Battleships & Battlecruisers
During the Second World War (1939-1945) the Aircraft Carrier had established itself as the new capital ship- the day of the Battleship was well and truly over. In the immediate years after the War, the remaining battleships had uneventful careers fulfilling flag or training roles. The Royal Navy's last ever Battleship, HMS Vanguard, decommissioned on June 7th 1960.
