The countdown is on to another of the big ones at RDC with the 13th annual Mildenhall Festival weekend on Saturday July 30 (7pm) and Sunday July 31 (1pm).

The 2005 Festival features a revamped line up with the National Banger BBA British Championship headlining the programme on Saturday featuring the top names from RDC and around the country doing battle for one of the sports top prizes won last year by 131 Barry Wade. A large entry of drivers are also expected for the evenings last chance qualifier event with the winner earning a place in the championship event and following the big race there will be a series of allcomers events.

This year's British Championship had been sponsored by Mill Kitchens and Direct Recovery meaning an increased prize fund on the title race meaning there is a whopping £600 up for grabs with the winner also collecting Technic Tyres from Direct Recovery.

Mill Kitchens are also sponsoring four entertainer awards at the British Championship with four awards of £25 and a trophy up for grabs to those who put on a show while the evening's top points scoring white grade driver will win the regular Thetford Autoparts sponsored Novice of the Night award.

The National Bangers are also on the bill on Sunday's programme with another new addition to the fixture list with the first ever Festival Open carrying £800 in prize money which will spread out between the race winners and the entertainers. Full details on the pay schedule appear below in the Bangers section of this page. It is hoped this increased prize fund will encourage more drivers, both from RDC and away, to either stay for Sunday's meeting or bring a second car for the weekend.

Joining the Bangers on both days of the Festival will be the Saloon Stockcars who will be competing in the Suffolk Open Championship in what promises to be a blistering two days of action from the formula which has already delivered so much action at Mildenhall this season.

Bearing in mind that this will be the last appearance for the formula at Mildenhall ahead of September's World Final this will be a great opportunity for world be world finalists to get in preparation for the big day and it is hoped the meeting may attract some visiting drivers to clash with the East Anglian contingent especially as the only other meeting for the formula on the weekend is at Cowdenbeath on the Saturday but even at this early stage a couple of Scottish drivers are booked. The current entry list can be seen further down the page.

The Saloon Stockcars will be competing in a unique format over the weekend. Qualifying will be on the Saturday night and between three and five heats will be run depending on how many cars attend with drivers racing in at least three of the heats scoring points which will determine the starting grid for Sunday's final.

In a unique and exciting twist to Saturday's programme if only three or four heats are required then then last race of the evening for the formula will be a £100 10 lap dash for cash for the top five drivers from each of Saturday's heats.

If there is enough cars a consolation race will open the card offering drivers a last chance to qualify for the title event which will be followed by at least two allcomers races.

Joining the Bangers and Saloon Stockcars on Sunday's programme will be the Reliant Robins who will take centre stage with the 10th annual World Final defended by 295 Roger Nelson who won an absolutely thrilling race 12 months ago and the stage is set for another cracker this year with over 30 drivers qualifying for the biggest race of the year for the 3-wheelers.

This year's race is sponsored by Abbey Recovery Services who are boosting the prize fund on the world final to a very impressive £450 so don't expect the drivers to hold anything back in their quest for glory.

Following the World Final will be the 13th annual Grand Prix event and an Allcomers likely to be packed full of action with the drivers also battling for vital track and national championship points.

Completing the bill will be the mighty Ministox in the sixth round of the Mildenhall Track Championship. The 11 to 16-year-old racers have been putting on some cracking action this season and we believe they will be a fine addition to the Festival programme. This meeting is only open to RDC drivers but nonetheless a fine field of cars is expected and if previous meetings are anything to go by there will be some fine racing from these stars of tomorrow.

Please look at the admission prices as there are special prices for this years Festival.

If you have any questions or problems please don't hesitate to phone RDC on 01268 412299 or 07850 683953 or e mail at wastedmc@btopenworld.com

Support entry
RDC drivers who have competed in at least one British qualifier have been extended an invitation to compete at the Festival weekend. However as always with RDC meetings everyone is welcome to take part in either meeting and everyone will be welcome on the weekend. Drivers highlighted in bold are those who have confirmed their intention to race on at least one day of the Festival weekend (around 70 so far plus over 30 for the British). The other drivers on the list are those who have competed at a British qualifying round and have subsequently been extended an invite to the weekend.

As an added incentive for white grade drivers to compete on Saturday's programme there will be two Thetford Autoparts Novice of the Night awards which will go to the first white grade drivers in each of the last chance qualifiers.

Saloon Stockcars Suffolk Open Championship sponsored by Clive Grief Lift and Shift
It's going to be a massive weekend of racing from the Saloon Stockcars with two days of action from the hard hitting formula headlined by the Suffolk Open Championship final on Sunday's programme.

Saturday will see the drivers compete in three of the four qualifying heats and depending on the car turnout up to five qualifying heats will be run. Should only three or four heats be needed RDC will up the stakes by running a 10 lap dash for cash race open to all drivers who have registered a top five finish in any of the heats

This is the last appearance for the formula before September's world final and that means we are likely to be visited by one or two drivers from the south west and even Scotland and thanks to Marion Farrow we already have an early entry list for the weekend which includes drivers from both ends of the country. We will continue updating this list in the weeks leading up to the meeting and this will help us judge what format will be run for the formula over the weekend.
